Man kills brother, sister-in-law ‘for land’

Victims were shot dead when they were leaving their house early morning to work in fields

DIJKOT:

A man allegedly shot dead his brother and sister-in-law over a land dispute in Dijkot on Sunday.

Police took the bodies into their custody and arrested the accused from Gojra.

Police said there was a dispute over one acre of land between 53-year-old Arshad Ali, son of Rehmat Ali and resident of Chak No 274RB village near Dijkot, with his brother Akbar Ali.

After the matter was not resolved in a panchayat held a day prior to the incident, Akbar shot dead his brother Arshad and his sister-in-law, 48-year-old Kubra Bibi, with a 12-bore gun in the wee hours of the day.

The incident took place when the victims were leaving their house to work in the fields.

The accused Akbar fled from the crime scene after firing and went to his relatives in Gojra.

DSP Malik Tariq conducted a raid and arrested the accused along with the murder weapon. After the double murder, RPO Rafat Mukhtar Raja took notice of the incident, demanded an immediate report from CPO Sohail Chaudhry and issued orders to fulfill all the requirements for bringing the accused to justice.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Kafil, son of Jamil, was shot dead by his friend Muzammil. The two friends were working at a power loom when they quarreled over a petty dispute, exchanging harsh words with each other.

The accused shot Kafil in the head and managed to escape from the scene. Razaabad police took the body into custody and shifted it to a hospital.
