This the third winter since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf began its tenure in government and once again this year, people are facing a severe gas crisis, said Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh on Sunday.
In a statement issued by his office on the day, the minister censured the federal energy ministry. Despite having over half a dozen advisers and special assistants making statements for them, the federal ministry suffers from confusion instead of improving, claimed Shaikh.
According to the provincial minister, the federal energy ministry’s tall claims from last year proved to be lies and the ministry failed to follow through on promises. The gas crisis is being exacerbated by the incompetent rulers, claimed Shaikh. When they need LNG, they buy expensive furnace oil, he said, accusing the ruling party of benefiting its ‘ATMs’.
Sindh is the largest gas producing province but the Centre is not providing the province the gas it requires, said Shaikh. The PTI government only makes statements and gives hollow slogans, it does not take any practical measures, he opined.
