The Rawalpindi district administration on Saturday sealed seven schools found open despite closure orders.

On the strict instructions of Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq, the Civil Defence Department (CDD) teams surveyed various areas to check schools defying the extended winter holidays announced by the government.

CDD District Officer Talib Hussain supervised the operation. In some instances the owners of schools had closed the main gates, but staff was working inside. Some schools were found reciving admissions. Hussain said that the campaign against the schools has been started on a daily basis and will continue till December 24. Any school that is found to be open will be sealed.

The novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) claimed three more lives in Rawalpindi, while 113 more people have tested positive in the division during the last 24 hours.

According to report released by the office of the deputy commissioner, 40 cases were reported from Rawal Town, 25 from Potohar Town, 21 from Kahuta, 12 from Rawalpindi Cantonment, eight from Taxila, eight from Kallar Sayyedan, one from Kottli Sattian and one from Gujjar Khan.

About 24 patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 28 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, four in Hearts International Hospital, eight in Red Crescent International while 50 were admitted in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU).

Meanwhile the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday said that 447 new Covid-19 cases were reported from the federal capital during the last 24 hours.
