Sindh reported 1,389 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday, while the virus claimed 14 more lives in the province overnight, according to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
"As many as 1,398 cases have emerged against 9,072 samples screen, showing a detection rate of 15.3 per cent - the highest reported in the province so far in the second wave," the CM said in the statement issued on Saturday.
As per the CM, of the new cases, 1,101 cases belonged to Karachi, 63 to Hyderabad, 32 to Badin, 28 to Jamshoro, 22 to Sanghar, 16 to Mirpurkhas, 15 to Sujawal, 14 each to Thatta, Matiari and Shaheed Benazirabad, nine to Naushero Feroze, eight to Umerkot, two to Qambar-Shahdadkot and as many to Larkana, and one each to Dadu, Sukkur, Kashmore-Kandhkot and Tando Allahyar.
He said the province's coronavirus death toll now added up to 2,911 and the number of infections reported thus far had climbed to 171, 1595.
Besides, the CM added, 1,650 Covid-19 patients had regained health overnight, following which the number of total recoveries in the province increased to 150,765.
At present, 17,919 Covid-19 patients are being treated in Sindh, among whom 17,141 are in home isolation, 13 in quarantine centres and 765 in hospitals, according to the CM. Of these, he added, at least 681 were in critical condition, with 61 on ventilators.
