Man held for peddling drugs on campus
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Islamabad Police on Thursday apprehended a man accused of supplying narcotics at varsity in the capital and recovered 1.12 kilogrammes of hashish from him, a police spokesperson said on Thursday.
As part of a crackdown on drug dealers and smugglers, particularly those supplying narcotics on campuses, SP-Investigation Malik Naeem Iqbal constituted special anti-drug police team under the supervision of CIA DSP Hakim Khan along with SI Ishtiaq Shah and others.
The team nabbed a suspected drug dealer, identified as Bashir and recovered 1.12 kilogrammes of hashish from him.
During preliminary investigations, it was revealed that he has served time in the past while he allegedly also confessed to his involvement in supplying drugs at the Quaid-e-Azam University and other areas of the city. A Case has been registered and further investigation is underway. DIG Operations Waqaruddin Syed said that the police are accelerating efforts against drugs.
