As the spate of killings continued, six people were killed and over 12 wounded in Jauhar and Mobina Town, respectively.
Earlier at the 141st Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters on Monday, chaired by COAS General Ashfaq Kayani, discussed the security situation in the country in general and Karachi in particular.
The participants had said they hoped the recent measures taken by the Sindh government would help improve the security situation in the metropolis.
Karachi has become a battleground with authorities struggling to stem the violence, blamed on activists from political parties representing competing ethnic groups, from spiralling.
The independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan says 800 people, most of them poor, have died since January, including 300 last month alone.
Earlier Interior Minister Rehman Malik told reporters in Karachi that the government had taken steps to clear out stockpiles of illegal weapons by cancelling all firearm licences at the end of the month, forcing owners to reapply.

@Vicram Singh
If you are comparing pre 1971 East Pakistan sitiuation with current situation in Karachi then you are totally ignorent of events in East Pakistan happend before 1971!
You can compare the current situation in karachi with Maxico drug war or Mumbai gang war in 1990s that had politicle touch as well. :)
it was the biggest mistake that Pakistan was divided in four provinces on linguistic basis, every political party spreading and teaching the lesson of hate, differences and voilence by focusing on race and other regional differences
this is news no more?
I hear Interior Minister tell the press that Target killing has stopped in Karachi?
This madness of people killing people for days in days out has to stop.This is insane.
When is the Army going to act???
This in many ways is similar to what was happening to Bengalis pre-1971.
People involved in killing should not be spared at any cost.
It is unfortunate that despite that fact that in Constitution of Pakistan safety of life and property of the citizen is guaranteed but these killers think themselves that they are above the law and can kill any one they hate due to one reason or the other.
Pakistan is made for the citizens of this country, not for any particular political party or a specific group of people who would like to dominate on the other.
Government should not take any political pressure from any political party and or group and should punish the culprits at all cost to restore the peace of Karachi.
