Even nearly a decade after his passing, celebrated actor Moin Akhtar continues to live in the hearts of his fans and peers across Pakistan. While the renowned star was known for his numerous comedy sketches, one show that many keep coming back to is his iconic chat show with ace playwright Anwar Maqsood: Loose Talk.
Loose Talk is still one of the most liked and talked-about shows to date. In each new episode, Akhtar would give interviews in the guise of different characters. Whether it was politics or the bitterness of society he was talking about, the actor would describe the subject in such a way that the viewers could not help but burst into laughter.
While the videos of the aforementioned show still make rounds on social media from time to time, a new show with a similar concept is on the horizon. Loose Talk was discontinued after Akhtar’s death but now, a similar show, titled Mere Aangan Se is being aired under the auspices of Maqsood wherein Jhooti star Yasir Hussain will take on the role of guest, instead of the late Akhtar.
Hussain has previously worked with the renowned poet in Aangan Tehra but fans are not having it. A user wrote, “The year 2020 has been bad for many and ironically, Maqsood is launching a show like the popular Loose Talk in which Yasir Hussain will replace Moin Akhtar. This is an insult to the legendary actor. No one can take his place!”
2020 is really a cursed year. Anwar Maqsood is starting a new show which basically has an Legendary Program "Loose Talk" Theme. This is an insult to Moin Akhtar on so many levels. NO ONE CAN REPLACE HIM . EVEN WORSE REPLACING HIM WITH YASIR HUSSAIN 🤢🤢🤢 pic.twitter.com/iABBAXEPRe

Another user added, "Omar Sharif and Shakeel Afridi could have been good choices, instead of Yasir Hussain, to replace Moin Akhtar in this show as these two actors are also legends."
One more lamented that Pakistan is not bringing out any great talent in comedy. "People who have talent in comedy are confined to the small screen and those who do not have the ability to act are coming on the big screen," he said.
