As many as 1,348 new coronavirus cases were reported in Sindh on Wednesday along with eight more virus-related deaths, bringing the virus tally to 167,381 and the provincial death toll to 2,864.
According to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, 12,159 samples were tested on the day, with an 11 per cent positivity rate. He added that 607 more patients had recovered from the virus overnight.
The CM said there are currently 16,953 patients infected with Covid-19 in the province, with 16,226 in home isolation, 13 at isolation centre and 714 admitted at different hospitals. Of them, 614 patients are said to be in critical condition and 58 on ventilators.
From the new cases, 933 were detected in Karachi, 106 in Hyderabad, 73 in Badin, 31 in Jamshoro, 26 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 21 in Sanghar, 16 in Matiari, 13 in Umerkot, nine in Sujawal, eight each in Mirpurkhas and Sukkur, seven in Naushero Feroze, six in Ghotki, three each in Khairpur and Thatta, and two apiece in Dadu and Tando Mohammad Khan two.
