Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for submission of textile policy to the Economic Coordination Committee for approval and text of the policy will be sent to the committee next week, said Punjab Minister for Trade and Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal. In a meeting with a delegation of the All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (Aptma), he said that the major proposals of the policy included increasing textile exports to $20.8 billion by 2025, reducing electricity and gas tariffs and increasing long term financing for textile sector machinery. Detailing further he said easy access to new markets and focus on human resource development was also included in the policy. “Textile sector plays a pivotal role in the development of national economy,” he said.
