Over 1,300 new cases in Sindh

As many as 1,322 new infections were reported in Sindh on Monday, while 16 more patients succumbed to the virus on the day.

In a statement, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the province's death toll had subsequently risen to 2,845, while the total number of cases detected in Sindh stood at 164,651. Meanwhile, 358 more patients recovered from the virus overnight.

According to him, 10,837 samples were tested on the day, with a 12.2 per cent detection rate.

The CM said there were 15,440 infected patients in Sindh at the moment, with 14,818 in home isolation, 12 at isolation centres and 610 admitted at different hospitals. He added that 545 patients were in critical condition, with 67 of them on ventilators.

Of the new cases, 1,065 were reported from Karachi, 83 from Hyderabad, 37 from Jamshoro, 19 from Sujawal, 18 from Matiari, 15 each from Shaheed Benazirabad and Naushero Feroze, nine from Umerkot and Ghotki, six from Sukkur, five from Larkana, four from Thatta, two each from Tando Mohammad Khan and Badin, and one apiece from Dadu, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Shikarpur and Tharparkar.
