Karachi likely to receive winter rain today
The port city is likely to see light rain or drizzle on Tuesday (today) in the morning and at night, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The weather forecast issued by the PMD’s early warning centre on Monday stated that the downpour may occur due to a new western disturbance and the temperature is likely to drop with cold winds passing through the city following the rain.
The Met Office expects the temperature to remain between 14 to 17 degrees Celsius and has forecast cloudy skies in the coming days.
On Monday, mercury dropped as low as 15 degrees Celsius with fog reducing visibility to 2.5 kilometres in the morning. The maximum temperature was recorded at 29.5 degrees Celsius.
The city witnessed several spells of record breaking rainfall in summer this year during the month of July and August.
The spells of heavy rain caused urban flooding in most parts of the city which caused huge losses to various businesses in the city, while it also took many lives due to electrocution and flooding.
