CDA posts double shifts on projects

Newly-elected body of supermarket traders takes oath of office

To enhance the pace of development in the federal capital, the apex civic agency in the city have decided to employ staff in two shifts.

This was announced by officials in the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday.

In a statement, officials said that the civic agency has been working on clean drinking water projects - including repair of old water pipes and tube wells while restoring water supply from Rawal Dam - apart from developing new resources of water, carpeting of roads, repairing and restoration of footpaths, and restoration of street lights.

Steps are also being taken to restore the green character of the federal capital.

For this purpose, CDA’s officials said that staff have been deployed in two shifts to complete the developmental work as soon as possible.

Traders appreciate development works in markets

Traders and businessmen in the federal capital on Saturday appreciated the work undertaken by the civic agency in the markets of the city.

This was stated by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Sardar Yasir Khan as he led a delegation visited the Sector F-6 Markaz and congratulated the newly elected Office Bearers of Traders Welfare Association (TWA) in Supermarket.

Shehzad Shabbir Abbasi was elected as the president of TWA, Sheikh Dawood as the senior vice president, Amir Qureshi as vice president, Saqib Abbasi as the secretary-general, Chaudhry Usman Mazhar as the additional secretary-general, Asif Khan as the joint secretary, Tabish Malik as the finance secretary and Sajjad Papu as the press secretary.

While expressing good wishes for Abbasi and his team to play an active role in resolving issues of traders from their market, Yasir said that recently CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed had visited various markets of the federal capital, starting from the Supermarket, to assess the needs for development works in markets.

In this regard, Yasir said that CDA has started development works in markets including carpeting of roads, restoration of streetlights and improving basic infrastructure.

Further, he said that ICCI will organise a shopping festival in Islamabad where markets and commercial centres of the city will participate. He hoped the festival will give a boost to business activities in the region.
