RAWALPINDI:

A family court in Rawalpindi on Tuesday summoned a suspect accused of forging a nikkahnama (marriage certificate) with a college student and allegedly attempting to kidnap and harass the victim.

The victim, A*, told the court that she belonged to a poor family. She added that the suspect, Muhammad Nadeem, had prepared a fake marriage certificate.

Brandishing the forged document, A* claimed that Nadeem barged into her house with his brother Waseem and other accomplices and tried to kidnap her. However, when her family resisted, they fled.

The victim said that now, the suspect and his brother regularly visit her neighbourhood in an inebriated state and hurl expletives at her and her family, harassing them.

When the victim filed a case for dissolution of her marriage in court, the suspects lodged fake robbery complaints against A* and her mother in different police stations to pressurise them. She further claimed that the police were not helping them.

The student demanded the court to cancel her fake nikkahnama and strictly punish the suspects.

At this, Family Court Judge Nazish Nawaz Kiyani has summoned the suspect on November 25.

Moreover, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younus has also been ordered to probe the matter.
