RAWALPINDI:

Over 101 workers and officials of Teheek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have been detained in Adiala Jail as the Rawalpindi police continued its crackdown against the party for the second consecutive day on Saturday.

The measure has been taken to dismantle the power of TLP before its protest rally on November 15, police officers said, adding that collectively, over 175 workers have been arrested so far. These people have been interned for 15 days under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

Some 101 party workers and leaders have been detained in Adiala Jail, while the rest have been locked up in various precincts. TLP has announced to hold a protest rally from Liaquatabad to Faizabad on Sunday (today) against blasphemous cartoons. Although government has allowed every other party and group to hold protest over the act, TLP has bee barred due to its past record of turning protests into sit-ins.
