Birth certificate to be subject to immunisation

The health secretary gave detailed briefing to the minister about the latest developments in vertical programme

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has directed the authorities concerned that Birth Registration Certificate of every child will be issued only after their immunisation.

She issued the direction during a meeting held to review measures to improve immunisation coverage, polio campaigns, new hiring and progress of communicable diseases at Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD).

As per the details, she set a deadline to enhance immunisation coverage to 90 per cent by June 2021.

The health secretary gave detailed briefing to the minister about the latest developments in vertical programme.

She said the freshly recruited 650 vaccinators must be posted immediately in all districts to improve coverage. “These were in addition to over, 1,100 vaccinators already brought in the system recently. By end of December this year the process of addition of another 1,000 vaccinators would be completed and by this, hiring on 50% vacant positions would be completed.”

She maintained that as per objectives set the by Punjab government, health facilities to the children would be ensured. APP
