Natasha Noorani has released a brand new single called Trace, stated a press release. The singer, who is also one of the co-founders of Lahore Music Meet (LMM), has penned the lyrics to the track, with Lahore-based singer-songwriter Shorbanoor taking on guitar and backing vocals duties.
Trace has been recorded and produced by Ali Suhail, who also produced Noorani's previous EP Munasib. The track is accompanied by a surreal music video that was co-directed by Abdul-Rahman Malik (Mosiki, Black Parrot Studios) and Noorani herself.
The starlet has made a name for herself as a performer with a diverse range, having done playback singing and voice-overs too. Trained in khayal gayaki, she released Munasib in 2018, exploring her diverse range as a singer-songwriter, including R’n’B, neo-soul and progressive rock influences. Noorani has also collaborated with various Pakistani acts including Strings, Biryani Brothers, Ali Suhail, Sikandar Ka Mandar and Gentle Robot.
Noorani is also a well-known music curator with a MMus Ethnomusicology from SOAS. She works in archiving, preserving and promoting 20th century Pakistani Music and is currently undertaking a project in the preservation of oral narratives and sound recordings pertaining to Pakistani music.
