Bosnian dignitary acknowledges Pakistan's continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region

Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday said that Pakistan attaches great importance to brotherly relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and was proud of the strong bond between people of two countries.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), following a visit from Chairman of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic at General Headquarters (GHQ) today, matters of mutual interest, regional security and Pak-Bosnia relations came under discussion.

“Both [sides] discussed enhanced bilateral cooperation in various fields including defence, technical expertise and joint ventures,” the statement added.

The visiting dignitary also acknowledged Pakistan's continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to further enhance bilateral relations between both brotherly countries, the communiqué added.

Earlier, on arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented guard of honour and laid floral wreath at the Martyrs Monument to pay homage to martyrs.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan and visiting Chairman of Presidency of Bosnia & Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović expressed resolve to extend trade cooperation while favouring a peaceful solution of Kashmir issue and standing united against the rampant Islamophobia.

Addressing a joint press conference after signing of two accords on scientific cooperation and readmission agreement, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that both the countries would continue meetings to improve trade and cooperation in every field.

The two leaders exchanged views on the entire gamut of bilateral relations and agreed to further deepen mutual cooperation in all fields, especially in the economic, trade and investment, science and technology, defence industry, educational and cultural arenas. It was also agreed to maintain frequent bilateral exchanges, including at the highest level.

The premier said that people of Pakistan have a special place for Bosnia since the 1990s when Bosnia went through a tragic time, saying people of Pakistan have ever stood with people of Bosnia.

“Today we have signed agreements and also discussed that we want to improve the relationship, especially, trade relationship, which unfortunately stands at only 4.5 million Euros; which is nothing,” he noted.
