ISLAMABAD:

The National Highway Authority (NHA) on Wednesday said that due to financial constraints, work on rehabilitating the 146-kilometre-long Rawalpindi-Kohat Highway (N-80) has been scattered.

A representative of the authority shared on Wednesday that works to repair the highway is underway, though in small sections.

He said that previously, a section of the road had been repaired from Tarnol up to the 59-kilometre marker under periodic maintenance and rehabilitation schemes.

Allocations were made in fiscal years 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 to continue repair work from the 59km mark. From the 97km mark onwards, work to expand the highway, to make it a dual road, had been taken up under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
