Truck overturns onto car, injuring one

The traffic police use lifters and a heavy crane to remove the truck and car from the road

KARACHI:

A speeding truck overturned onto a car on Sir Shah Suleman Road near Essa Nagri on Wednesday, leaving a man inside the car critically injured.

As a result of the accident, the flow of traffic on Sir Shah Suleman Road, University Road and Stadium Road was badly affected.

The traffic police sought lifters and a heavy crane to remove the truck and car from the road, while rescue workers extracted the injured man, Salman Sajid, from the car and shifted him to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

The truck was impounded by the police, while the car was taken into police custody as well.

According to PIB Colony SHO Shakir Hussain, the driver had lost control of the speeding truck and it turned over after one of its wheels collided with the footpath.

He stated that the truck driver had fled from the spot, adding that the police were searching for him.

The family of the injured man could not be contacted until the filing of this report.
