Princess Diana’s plea in ‘The Crown’ season 4 trailer is heart-wrenching

The official clip is out and it's bound to leave shivers down your spine

Following some pretty gloomy teasers, Netflix has released the official trailer for the fourth season of The Crown and stocking up on Kleenex is highly recommended before watching it, reported E!Online.

Several seconds into clip, Gillian Anderson appears as British PM Margaret Thatcher, one of the most polarising political figures in the history of the UK. "Your Majesty, I think we have enough respect for one another personally to ask ourselves some of the bigger questions, woman to woman," she tells Olivia Colman's Queen Elizabeth II. Their seconds-long exchange hints at how the real-life figure was adamant on declaring herself as a force to be reckoned with.

As the clip progresses, it promises a tense dynamic. Spoiler alert, the jury is out on how the makers will tackle the years that lead to Thatcher's actual resignation.

Having said that, the trailer goes on to highlight the devastating love-hate relationship between Prince Charles (Josh O'Connor) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin), as the duo takes center stage in the second half.

We see Corrin step into the glamorous role of Diana, posing for the paparazzi and walking around Buckingham Palace in a replica of the iconic David and Elizabeth Emanuel wedding gown she wore to her wedding. Perhaps the most painful look at what's to come is evidenced in a voiceover from Corrin's Diana, who tells Queen Elizabeth II, "All I want is to be loved. It's all any of us want from you."

But speaking about Diana in another scene, the Queen Mother (Marion Bailer) says, "In time, she will give up her fight and bend as they all do." Helena Bonham Carter's Princess Margaret chimes in, adding that if she does not bend, "she will break." And that’s the series hinting at some dark secrets right there.

Towards the end, the trailer shows snippets of fights and drama between Diana and Charles, his affair with Camila Parker Bowles (Emerald Fennel) and Thatcher's ultimate downfall.
