Eid Miladun Nabi is being celebrated on Friday across the country with religious zeal and fervour to commemorate 12th of Rabiul Awal which marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The day commenced with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital while 21-gun salutes in all other provincial capitals.
Special prayers for the unity of Muslim Ummah and progress and prosperity of the country were offered in the mosques after Fajr prayers. Special conferences, events and Mehfil-e-Milad are also being arranged.
In connection with Eid Miladun Nabi, a National Rehmatul-lil-Alameen (SAWW) Conference was held in Islamabad.
Addressing the opening ceremony, President Dr Arif Alvi urged ulemas to effectively use the platforms of mosque and pulpit to educate people on social issues, including climate change, health, cleanliness and equality.
The president said ulema should disseminate information about Clean and Green Pakistan, stunting, hereditary rights of women and communicable diseases.
He said our Prophet Muhammad focused on equality in society, rights of the poor, environmental protection and cleanliness.
“We need to follow the teachings and life of Prophet Muhammad for solution to our all social problems,” he underscored.

As part of the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW) celebrations, the government has decided to observe Ishq-e-Rasool (SAAW) Week from tomorrow.
A number of religious processions and rallies are also expected to be taken out in different cities whereas various religious scholars are expected to address wherein the life of the Prophet (PBUH) would be narrated.
A security plan is also in place by the security forces to avoid any untoward incident. Main entrances of the processions and adjoining roads would be completely closed for general traffic. Participants of the processions would be allowed to join after a thorough search.
Buildings including the Parliament, prime minister’s house, president’s house and various mosques have been decorated with fairy lights and some adorned with flags prepared in relevance to the occasion.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged the nation to draw from the Prophet's (PBUH) legacy of humanity, humility and strength.

On the occasion, Information Minister Shibli Faraz congratulated the nation and the Muslim community.
"Imran Khan is determined to make the country a welfare state on the concept of the state of Madina. A state where justice actually prevails and there is equality for all," the minister said on Twitter.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser congratulated the Muslim community on the occasion.
“This blessed day teaches us that a society based on justice can be established by following the Sunnah of the late Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH),” he tweeted. “On this day, we send a message to the enemies of Islam that no insolence will be tolerated in the name of the Holy Prophet PBUH).”
