Prime Minister Imran Khan has felicitated the people of Turkey as the brotherly country celebrates its 97th anniversary of the Republic Day, which commemorates the founding of the nation's name and proclamation of the country's status as a republic.
"Warm felicitations to leadership and people of Turkey on 97th Republic Day. Our forefathers stood by Turkish people in their glorious struggle against forces of imperialism. In contemporary times, our two countries remain indispensable partners. Long live Pakistan-Turkey brotherhood!" the premier wrote on his official Twitter handle on Thursday.

Earlier, President Arif Alvi also congratulated the people and government of Turkey on their Republic Day.
"It gives me immense pleasure to convey my heartfelt felicitations to the government and the brotherly people of the Republic of Turkey on the occasion of the 97th Republic Day," he wrote in his letter addressed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
President Alvi said the fraternal relations between the people of Pakistan and Turkey go back centuries and are embedded in a common religion, shared culture, linguistic and spiritual heritage.
"Time and again, our two nations have proven that they will not desist from any sacrifice in defence of each other's freedom," he said.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s historic solidarity with Turkey and said the two brotherly countries will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the years to come.
Moreover, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser also sent their congratulatory letters to the Turkish president.
FM Qureshi said that the historic brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey is without parallel, standing shoulder-to-shoulder in support now and in future.

According to Turkish news agency Anadolu, President Erdogan, senior government and high-ranking military officials, as well as opposition leaders laid wreaths at Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Turkish Republic's founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in the capital Ankara.
