Eight killed in 928 road accidents

In all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours

At least eight people were killed whereas 1,040 were injured in 928 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of the total injured, 594 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas, 446 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority, around 64 per cent, involved motorcycles. Furthermore, the analysis showed that 427 drivers, 17 underage drivers, 169 pedestrians, and 452 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics revealed that 217 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 239 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 64 RTCs in Faisalabad with 78 victims and Multan at third with 62 RTCs and 63 victims.

The details further revealed that 1,048 victims were affected by RTCs including 831 male and 217 female victims. The age group of the victims showed that 155 were under 18 years of age, 579 were between 18 and 40 years and the remaining 314 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 789 motorcycles, 154 auto-rickshaws, 86 motorcars, 38 vans, nine passenger buses, 29 trucks and 122 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
