335 new cases emerge as Covid claims five lives

201 more people recover from the infection in Sindh

Coronavirus claimed five more lives overnight in Sindh, lifting the province's Covid-19 death toll to 2,604, stated Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday.

The CM added that as many as 335 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in Sindh on the day, raising the provincial infection tally to 144,449.

The Sindh chief minister further stated that 4,804 people were currently infected with the virus, of whom 4,516 were in home isolation, 284 were being treated at different hospitals and four were quarantined in isolation centres.

Moreover, of all the active cases, the condition of 264 patients is critical and 28 are on ventilators, he said.

On the other hand, 201 patients recovered from the contagious disease overnight, the CM said, adding the total number of recovered patients in the province added to 137,041.

He said that of 335 newly reported cases, 250 had been detected in Karachi alone. Meanwhile, Hyderabad saw 11 cases, Larkana six, Shikarpur five, Badin and Qambar-Shahdadkot four each, Jamshoro, Khairpur, Sukkur, Thatta and Umerkot three apiece, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad and Sujawal two each and Dadu, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Matiari, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan and Tharparkar one each.
