HYDERABAD:

The processions of Chup Tazia, which is regarded as the last procession of the mourning period beginning in the month of Muharram, were taken out in almost all districts of Sindh on Monday.

The main procession in Karachi, held in remembrance of Imam Askari's martyrdom, began from Nishtar Park on Monday morning.

The procession led by Buturab Scouts passed through the reserved route and culminated at Imam Bargah Hussainia Irania in Kharadar. It followed the main Majlis-e-Aza, addressed by Allama Ali Karar Naqvi.

Security arrangements were made with heavy contingents of police and Rangers deployed along the route and snipers deployed in high-rise buildings. The procession route was also inspected by the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs. Besides, the procession was monitored through CCTV cameras.

Another procession in Karachi began from Nazimabad and culminated at Imam Bargah Shah-e-Najaf on Martin Road after passing through the designated route.

Meanwhile in Hyderabad, the central procession began from Qadam Gah Moula Ali (AS) and culminated at Karbala Dadan Shah, after passing through the station road and Rahim Shopping Centre road.

As many as 12,000 policemen were deployed for security of the procession in Hyderabad while mobile services were suspended by noon, even in areas that had no processions scheduled.
