District admin imposes smart lockdown in 10 'hot spots'
ISLAMABAD:As the number of new novel coronavirus (Covid-19) infections were confirmed in another 186 people, the district administration in the federal capital announced that it was imposing a smart lockdown on 10 different localities in the city which have emerged as 'hot spots'.
The district health authorities on Sunday said that the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) was confirmed in 186 new people, taking total infections so far to 18,921. Among the new infections, 121 were men and 65 were women.
Of those infected, 17,316 have made a complete recovery while there are 1,141 active cases. Meanwhile, three more people succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 210.
Smart lockdown
To contain the spread of the virus, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat on Sunday issued a notification stating that 10 localities in six streets of the city are being sealed.
These include street 46 in Sector F-11/3, Street 23 in Sector F-11/2, Street 58 in Sector I-8/2, Street 57 in Street Sector I-8/3, Street 91 in Sector I-8/4, Street 10 in Block-D of Media Town, Street 12 in Sector I-10/2, Street 33 in Sector G-11/2, Street 30 in Pakistan Town Phase-I, and Street 35 in Sector G-6/2.
DC Shafqaat said that only people who are employed in essential services and with a negative Covid-19 certificate will be allowed to leave the area.
Health teams will complete testing and give clearance to reopen the area, he said, adding that assistant commissioners of the relevant circles will be tasked with monitoring and coordinating between different government teams and for making sure that all arrangements are in place.
"Stay safe Islamabad, the second wave is here," he added.
