The opposition PML-N organised its own event to mark the inauguration of the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) at Jain Mandir Anarkali Station.
Former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique ‘inaugurated’ the train. He was accompanied by former speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, party deputy secretary general Ata Tarar, Pervez Malik, Khawaja Imran Nazir and a large number of workers chanting slogans in favour of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif.
Speaking on the occasion, Rafique urged the workers to intensify their political struggle and asserted that the month of December would be decisive in this regard. He said Shehbaz and his son Hamza Shehbaz were in jail because they had brought a change in the life of the people by working hard and had not deserted Nawaz Sharif.
He alleged that “democracy is in chains” and there were different laws for the PML-N and the “favourites”.
“At first our plan was to go to Dera Gujran but we did not go there because as political workers we do not want riots,” he added. “The PDM had adopted the path of democracy, rule of law, respect for the vote and justice.”
