Four killed in Sahiwal road accident

Police vehicle went out of control and rammed into a tree when arrested suspect tried to flee

At least four people were killed and three others suffered serious injuries in a car-motorcycle collision near Chandi Chowk in Harappa on Wednesday.

The injured were shifted to a hospital. Among the three injured, two are reported to be in critical condition.

The sources revealed that Sahiwal police claimed to have arrested an alleged drug dealer Gul Sher, from Harappa, who was being taken to Tulamba in a private police vehicle when the car rammed into a tree after hitting a motorcycle near Chandni Chowk.

The arrested suspects tried to escape from the police car which caused the vehicle to go out of control and it smashed into a tree.

As a result, four people were killed and three others were critically injured.

The victims were identified as Amjad, a resident of Tulamba, car driver Asif, motorcyclist Aslam and Faisal.

Among the injured were two policemen named Afzal, ASI Gul Faraz and the arrested accused drug dealer Gul Sher.

Rescue 1122 and Harappa Police rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported.

Police have shifted the bodies of the deceased to the hospital. The injured have been shifted to DHQ by rescue teams.

The condition of one of the injured is said to be critical.

Road accidents were rampant across the province.

On September 30, at least two people were killed while another sustained injury in separate incidents in Sargodha.

Nasir, a resident of Shahpur, along with his friend Ramzan, was riding a motorcycle on Shahpur-Khushab Road when a speeding dumper hit the two-wheeler near Aqal shah.

Consequently, Nasir died while Ramzan sustained injuries.

On September 29, at least six members of a family including two men, three women and a minor boy were killed in a road accident in Chichawatni.

The collision between a trailer truck and a car occurred on Kamalia Road which claimed the lives of six family members.

The family of Arifwala village was traveling to Mamu Kanjan to attend a funeral of their relative when the accident took place.

After crossing the River Ravi bridge, the car collided with a trailer truck coming from the opposite direction after its driver lost control.

The car driver drove the car away from the road in an attempt to protect his vehicle, yet it got bumped after the truck overturned and hit the car.

On September 5, at least five people died in a road traffic accident on Defence Road near Lahore University.

The crash resulted after a car and motorcycle rickshaw rammed into each other.

On July 18, three people were killed in a collision between a car and a tractor trolley on MM Road, Bhakkar.

The deceased were reported to be residents of Piplan tehsil of Mianwali district.
