HYDERABAD:

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday reiterated his stance that his party only sought the support of people and no one else for sending the PTI-led government home.

He maintained that people in the country had been living in hapless conditions due to the “failed” economic policies of the government and the currency was being devalued with every passing day.

He questioned the arrest of PML-N leader Captain (retired) Mohammad Safdar for raising the slogan of “vote ko izzat do” (honour the vote) at Quaid’s mausoleum and regretted that Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law was taken into custody from his hotel’s room.

The JUI-F chief remarked that they were not ready to accept the “rogue behaviour” of the government and would only seek the support of people to send the current regime packing.

He lamented that the name of state institutions was being taken in public rallies and stated that “they [institutions] should not be involved in country’s politics”.

“We respect the [state] institutions and their officials and want to see the nation united,” he said.

Fazl stressed that the PDM desired to restore “real” democracy in the country and wanted all the institutions to function within their constitutional framework.
