WhatsApp Web to add voice, video calls

WhatsApp is reportedly working on adding voice and video calls on its web service, according to WABetaInfo.

At present, the voice and video calls on WhatsApp Web appears to be in a beta stage. However, WABetaInfo tested the feature out to see how it is performing.

When users will receive a call on the web, a notification will pop up, allowing users to accept or decline the call. A different window appears when you make a call; it’s smaller and features controls to mute your mic and hang up.

Further, Group voice and video calls are also being tested so that people can communicate with their loved ones on a larger scale.

Earlier, WhatsApp launched “Always Mute” feature that replaces the “1-year” option when muting a chat. The always mute option was under development since last year and now the feature is finally rolling out to beta users.

The popular messaging service is also testing a new feature that allows users to search for specific messages by date. The feature will provide users with a date filter when searching for messages. The search feature is in the alpha stage of development, reports WABetaInfo.

With an upsurge in video-conferencing apps, this new feature will be well-received amongst users who will be able to make video, voice, and group calls while working on their laptops.

Even though WABetaInfo is not affiliated with WhatsApp, the website regularly uncovers features coming to the popular messaging service before they are rolled out, hence we can expect this new feature to be launched soon.
