Number of suspected cases in Nishtar Hospital on rise
MULTAN:
Three patients died due to coronavirus on the same day at Nishtar Hospital, raising the total death toll from the pandemic to 175.
According to officials, the number of coronavirus patients at the hospital is rising. The number of patients under treatment has risen to 28, while seven have been put on ventilator support. At least 28 suspected patients of the viral infection are being monitored.
A 33-year-old resident of Multan, a 50-year-old victim from Lodhran and a 70-year-old-man died in the isolation ward of the hospital while undergoing treatment for coronavirus. The total death toll recorded in the hospital from the disease since April has risen to 175.
The test results of 28 patients undergoing treatment on suspicion of coronavirus are awaited.
During the current year, at least 2,040 suspected cases of coronavirus were reported at the hospital. Of them, 680 people tested positive for the disease.
According to focal person Dr Irfan, samples of 30,756 people were tested in the laboratory of Nishtar Hospital, out of whom coronavirus has been confirmed in 3,081 people so far. Four doctors of Nishtar Hospital, a member of the paramedical staff and doctors of other hospitals were also among those tested positive.
Meanwhile, the number of patients undergoing treatment in the hospital is increasing. While 28 patients are undergoing treatment, seven others were put on ventilator support.
