Two held for allegedly selling drugs on campus

Police recovered heroin, hashish and weapons from them

ISLAMABAD:

Police on Saturday claimed arresting two people on charges of selling drugs around educational institutions and student hostels.

“Two drug pushers supplying drugs at educational institutions were arrested and police recovered heroin, hashish and weapons from them,” said a police spokesman.

He said that crackdown is underway against drug pushers in Islamabad and IGP Aamir Zulfiqar and Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed are reviewing the performance of the heads of police stations on daily basis.

According to the spokesman, a team of Karachi Company police station caught Awais and Majid Ali and recovered 1.125 kilogrammes of heroin and 170 grammes of hashish from their possession.

However, during the interrogation, they confessed to involvement in supplying drugs at various educational institutions. The suspects said that they were only suppliers and main dealers were other powerful criminals.

Separately, police arrested Khurram Shahzad and recovered a 30 bore pistol from him. Meanwhile, DSP Khalid Mehmood Awan including SHO Tarnol police station Sub-Inspector Alamgeer Khan, Sub-Inspector Aabir Abbas along with others officials caught a drug peddler namely Raees Mehmood and recovered 2.7 kilogrammes of hashish from him. Koral police arrested accused Waheed Iqbal and recovered a 30 bore pistol from him.
