Suspect strangles sister-in-law over her constant demand for marriage

The man who allegedly murdered his sister-in-law over a strained affair was arrested in the provincial capital on Wednesday.

Police said the body of a woman was found in a sewer a month ago in Ghalib Market area of Lahore. The police investigations team traced the case of the blind murder of said woman and arrested her sister’s husband along with his accomplice.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim wanted to marry her sister’s husband.

The suspect got deranged over an exchange of harsh words between them after which he along with his friend killed her.

SSP Investigation Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani told The Express Tribune that a month ago, a citizen from Ghalib Market area reported that a body wrapped in a sheet and tied with ropes was lying in a dirty sewer. Police took the body into their custody and opened it with the help of Rescue 1122. They found that it is a body of a woman.

Initially, the police conducted an autopsy on an unidentified body and found that the woman had been killed and dumped.

The case was a challenge for the investigating police. Police first had to find out the identity of the woman.

Meanwhile, a report of a woman going missing in Ghalib Market police station was received by the victim’s sister. Investigation revealed that this missing woman was Rubina Naz. The SSP further said Ghalib Market Investigations police had arrested the victim’s brother-in-law with his accomplice involved in the blind murder of the 27-year-old woman.
