PML-N announces candidates for G-B polls

Six constituencies are currently vacant

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal has announced the names of 18 party candidates for the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) election, which are scheduled to be held on November 15.

Hafeezur Rehman has been nominated from Gilgit 2 constituency-2, Zulfiqar Ali Tattu from Gilgit 3 constituency-3, Engineer Arif Hussain from constituency-4 in Nagar, Sajjad Hussain from constituency-5 in Nagar 2, Rehan Shah from constituency-6 Hunza, Akbar Taban from constituency-7 Skardu, Engineer Shabbir from constituency-11 Kharmang, Tahir Shigri from constituency-12, Farman Ali from constituency-13 Astor, Abdul Wajid from constituency-15 Diamer, Muhammad Anwar from constituency-16 Diamer-2, Saddar Alam from constituency-17 Diamer-3, Atif Salman from constituency-19 Ghazar, Ghulam Hussain from constituency-23 Ghanchay and Manzoor Hussain from constituency-24 in Ghanchay-3.

Currently six constituencies are vacant. Former deputy speaker Jafarullah’s constituency-1 in Gilgit, Barkatullah Jameel’s constituency-14 in Astor-2 and Imran Vakil’s constituency-18 in Diamer-3 are pending, while constituency-8 in Skardu-2 and constituency-9 in Skardu-2 are vacant.

The PML-N issued tickets to new candidates in these few constituencies after former provincial ministers and important figures left the party and joined other parties with the end of Nawaz league’s tenure in G-B on June 24.
