13 SEZs to bring new jobs to S Punjab: CM

New employment opportunities will be generated in backward areas

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the setting up of 13 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) will bring major industrial improvements in Punjab. “New employment opportunities will be generated through industrial and trade promotion in underprivileged areas, especially in South Punjab.”

He made these remarks during a meeting with Dera Ghazi Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi who called on him on Sunday.

Matters related to the promotion of industrial and trade sectors in South Punjab besides generating new employment opportunities came under discussion during the meeting. Buzdar stated that a business-friendly environment had been provided to the business and trade community. “Plans have been chalked out for establishment of the largest industrial zone in Muzaffargarh, which will change the economic destiny of the region.”

The chief minister announced that land would be provided for the building of chamber of commerce and industries in Dera Ghazi Khan. “An office of the Punjab Small Industries Corporation will also soon be inaugurated in the region. Backward areas will be brought at par with the developed ones by promoting small and medium enterprises.”

DG Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Roomi stated that exports were being increased due to the provision of business-friendly environment in Punjab. “The business community appreciates the coronavirus relief package and other economic initiatives of Punjab government,” he added.
