Man arrested for ‘vandalising temple’ in Badin
The Badin police arrested on Saturday a man accused of vandalising a makeshift Hindu temple in a remote area of Badin district.
An FIR has been registered against the arrested suspect, Muhammad Ismail alias Chatto Sheedi, on behalf of complainant Ashok Kumar.
According to the copy of the FIR available with The Express Tribune, Kumar told police that Ismail, who is a resident of Kario Ghanwar town, vandalised a temple in his village, Samo Goth. Kumar said Ismail damaged the idols kept in the temple and fled.
A Badin police spokesperson told The Express Tribune that SHO Kario Ghanwar Asghar Sathio, along with his team, arrested Ismail within a few hours of the registration of FIR. However, he added, “We have yet to confirm if he [Ismail] is mentally stable and deliberately destroyed the murtis [idols].”
The spokesperson said that further investigation of the case was underway. Meanwhile, Badin SSP Shabeer Sethar has sought an inquiry report on the matter from relevant police within 24 hours.
