The Hyderabad police have booked thousands of mourners, who participated in October 8 processions of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum, in five FIRs registered at as many police stations.
The FIRs were lodged on the state's complaint under Sections 341, 143, 145, 147, 148, 151, 117, 188 and 153-A of the Pakistan Penal Code on Thursday night. The cases were filed at A-Section, B-Section, Sakhi Pir, Hali Road and Qasimabad police stations.
The Qasimabad police have nominated 6,000 to 7,000 people, the Sakhipir police 400 to 500 people, the B-Section police 300 to 400 people, the A-Section police 200 to 250 people and the Hali Road police 80 to 100 people in the FIRs.
However, only two dozen people have been booked with their names in all these FIRs while the remaining are unidentified.
They have been accused of blocking the roads and violating the ban on taking out rallies on the day of Chehlum to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The ban was placed on October 6 by the Sindh home department.
