Minister orders allowances for medics

Purpose of the additional allowances is to improve the service delivery at public sector hospitals

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid ordered the officials to expedite implementation of disbursement of special allowances for health professionals. She issued the direction at a high-level meeting at Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education (SHME) Department on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Advisor to Punjab CM on Economic Affairs and Planning & Development Dr Salman Shah, SHME Secretary Nabeel Awan, Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Usman Younis, Punjab Health Foundation Managing Director Dr Kiran Khurshid, Additional Secretary Finance Muzaffar Siyal and other officials. The health minister reviewed the status and strategies for disbursement of special health allowance, health professional allowance, non practising allowance and teaching allowance. The SHME secretary gave details of different allowances for health professionals. The health minister stated, “Performance-based allowance has already been approved and key performance indicators have been devised to assess performance of healthcare professionals.” The purpose of the additional allowances is to improve the service delivery at public sector hospitals, she further said.
