Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Mohsin Dawar was prevented from speaking at a Bajaur Bar Council event by angry Jamat-e-Islami (JI) supporters in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

Footage of the incident, which soon went viral on social media, showed the parliamentarian being forced by former JI MNA Haroon Rashid and his fellow party members from completing his address.

Chaotic scenes ensued as not only were bar council members attacked but chairs were also heaved at them.

#Mohsindawar soon became the top trend on Pakistani Twitter as the video spread like wildfire. Dawar, who has repeatedly pointed the finger at the establishment for targeting his party and supporters, cried foul once again. ”Went to visit Bajaur Bar on the invitation of its newly elected office bearers.

Establishment’s hired tools tried to disrupt the event. This is the same lot that is afraid of our narrative of peace. I am thankful to Bajaur Bar and the people of Bajaur for their hospitality,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Dawar, is no stranger to controversy, as in 2019, he led a group of people along with party leader Ali Wazir to an assault on a military check post in the tribal district of North Waziristan. Ten assailants were killed along with 15 others including five soldiers injured in the exchange of fire. Dawar was allegedly trying to secure the release of a terrorists’ facilitator.
