14 killed in road accidents during last 24 hours

At least 14 people were killed whereas 980 were injured in 913 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of the total injured, 584 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas, 396 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority of RTCs, around 65 per cent, involved motorcycles. Furthermore, the analysis showed that 387 drivers, 30 underage drivers, 170 pedestrians, and 437 passengers were among the victims of these road crashes. The statistics showed that 186 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 197 persons, placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 81 RTCs in Faisalabad with 88 victims and Multan at third with 73 RTCs and 84 victims.

The details further revealed that 994 victims were affected by RTCs including 809 male & 185 female victims. The age group of the victims showed that 162 were under 18 years of age, 534 were between 18 and 40 years and the remaining 298 victims were reported to be above 40 years of age. According to the data, 780 motorcycles, 122 auto-rickshaws and 116 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid RTCs.
