The Sindh Board of Revenue (SBR) collected Rs10.4 billion during September - 16.4 per cent more than the Rs8.96 billion collected in September 2019 - shared Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Thursday.

Shah added that the SRB collected Rs26.4 billion in the current fiscal year's first quarter in contrast to Rs22.9 billion during the first quarter of the 2019-20 financial year.

"This is a growth of 15.2 per cent in a quarter-to-quarter comparison," he said.

He further pointed to August's torrential rains as compounding the service sector's woes, already badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. "Had that not been the case, the quarterly growth achieved by the SRB would have been far better," he asserted.

Shah expressed gratitude towards taxpayers for cooperating with the revenue board.

"SRB is focused on achieving the assigned revenue collection target of Rs135 billion for this financial year, although it represents an ambitious growth of 27 per cent as compared to the collection of Rs106 billion during 2019-20," he concluded.
