‘Highway upgrade to help development’

43.4 kilometre-long Ratodero-Shikarpur track would be completed at a cost of Rs4.94 billion in two years

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that the up-gradation and rehabilitation of the Indus Highway will boost the country’s socio-economic development, particularly in rural parts of Sindh. He was addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ratodero-Shikarpur section of the Indus Highway at Shikarpur Bypass on Wednesday. Ismail stated that the construction of an additional two-lane carriageway was being undertaken under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation programme, adding that the Asian Development Bank was providing financial assistance for this project. National Highway Authority’s South Zone member Tufail Ahmed Shaikh said that the 43.4 kilometre-long Ratodero-Shikarpur track would be completed at a cost of Rs4.94 billion in two years.
