The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued on Monday contempt notices to sugar mill owners over a contempt of court plea filed in connection with the non-payment of dues of the sugarcane growers. The court also summoned the relevant secretary at the next hearing.
The counsel of the sugar mill owners submitted the power of attorney in the court during the hearing.
Followig this, the court issued contempt notices to sugar mill owners and sought a reply from them on the plea by October 21.
The petitioner has maintained in the plea that sugar mill owners have not paid farmers due for the year 2018-19, as a result of which farmers are facing financial losses.
