An anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued on Monday an amended indictment to the Lyari kingpin Uzair Baloch in four cases pertaining to attacking the police during the Lyari operation.

An ATC was hearing the case at the Karachi Central Jail, where Uzair was presented under strict security.

The court termed co-accused Habib Jan Baloch, Zakir Raja, Asif Niazi and others, who are on the run, as absconders and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for them.

Meanwhile, the accused present in the courtroom denied the charges mentioned in the indictment issued to them. At this, the court issued notices to the investigation officer and witnesses.

According to the police, the accused had attacked law enforcement officials in the jurisdictions of Kharadar, Kalakot and Napier police stations in 2012, which left several police officers dead or injured.
