KARACHI:

The owner of the white Corolla, used by suspected robbers in an encounter that claimed the life of a policeman in Gulistan-e-Johar last week, recorded his statement before the police, informing them that the car had been stolen.

Additional SHO Rahim Khan was killed in the exchange of fire near Safari Park on Friday, following which the suspects fled and then abandoned the car after making headway in their escape.

The car's owner, Junaid, told the police that three armed men had entered his car at gunpoint on Thursday, after he dropped his children off at school. According to his statement, the suspects asked him if the car had a tracker installed in it. They released him after a while but took off with the car, he said.

Junaid said he had lodged a complaint about the car snatching at the Gulistan-e-Johar police station soon after.
