Talal leaves hospital before cops could record statement

ASP Abdul Khaliq said could not meet Talal but will try to contact him soon

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Talal Chaudhry was discharged from the hospital an hour before a four-member team of the Faisalabad police reached there to record his statement.

According to the sources, the PML-N leader was discharged from a private hospital in Lahore and went to an “unknown location” before the arrival of the investigation team. The hospital bill was paid by an unidentified person.

Further, the fact-finding committee formed by the party to investigate Talal’s case has started its work.

As per the hospital management, Talal had left the hospital an hour before the arrival of the police team. According to ASP Abdul Khaliq, the police could not meet Talal but it would try to contact him soon for the statement.

The ASP said that the statement of the woman MNA could also not be recorded. On Sunday afternoon, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb visited the hospital to inquire after Talal’s health.

According to party sources, the fact-finding committee contacted Talal while as per the committee’s head Saira Afzal Tarar, Talal’s “condition is much better now”. The sources said that Talal initially stated that he had a quarrel.

The committee will contact him again after further improvement in his condition. The report will be submitted within a day and the party will make it public.

According to hospital sources, Talal is in good health but doctors have recommended bed rest for him due to the operation. Police officials said that the police have not received any request from both the parties. “If no action is requested by either party, the police cannot do anything. The state cannot interfere in the affairs of both the parties.”

On the other hand, Talal’s brother Bilal Chaudhry has confirmed that Talal is still in Lahore and was discharged from the hospital as per the instructions of doctors.

Bilal told The Express Tribune that Talal will go to Islamabad only after further improvement in his condition and soon all the facts would be known.

To record her statement, the police went to the woman MNA’s house where they found out that she was in Islamabad. The police said that they would go to Islamabad for her statement.
