Peshawar gets power transmission line

K-P CM Mahmood directs to take up proposal with Pesco

PESHAWAR:

To permanently resolve the long-standing issue of power theft, the provincial chief executive has approved in principle a proposal to move the power transmission network underground as part of the Peshawar Revival Plan.

This was decided by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan during a meeting held to review progress on the Peshawar Revival Plan.

Regarding the construction of the underground power transmission network, the chief minister directed to take it up with officials of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), the main power distributor of the province.

CM Mahmood further directed to immediately initiate civil work on all schemes which have been approved under the plan.

Peshawar, being the provincial capital, needs to be improved and revived at all costs, he said.

The meeting was informed that under the Peshawar Revival Plan, work orders had been issued for the uplift and beautification of various roads including the road from Bacha Khan Chowk to Charsadda Bus Terminal Peshawar, Dalazak Road from Bacha Khan Chowk to Ring Road Peshawar, Bhani Mari Road from Chongi Chowk to Ramdas and Circular Road from Nishterabad to Ramdas Chowk. Civil work on the projects is expected to commence by October.

The meeting was further told that under the Peshawar Revival Plan, work on the uplift and beautification of various roads would begin next month.

Similarly, Rs110 million have been released for Zone-F to implement a traffic management plan in the provincial capital, while a tender is in the process of being released for the traffic management plan for Zone-D.

Additionally, work on the new bus stand will be initiated by the end of next month while land acquisition for construction of the northern section of the Ring Road– Warsak Road to Nasir Bagh – was in progress.

The chief minister directed to expedite land acquisition process and to adopt the feasible financial mode for the implementation of this project.

Work on the beautification of Peshawar BRT will be launched by November, later this year. It is expected to be completed by April 2021, the meeting was informed.

Mahmood Khan directed to speed up work on the beautification of entry and exit points on the motorway, plantation on Khwar along the Ring Road and anti-encroachment initiative in Mera Kachori.

The meeting was also briefed about the progress made so far on the other ongoing projects in Peshawar city, Hayatabad and Regi Model Town.

Special Assistant to CM on Information Kamran Bangash, Principal Secretary to CM Shahab Ali Shah, administrative secretaries of concerned departments, Peshawar Commissioner and deputy commissioner, PDA director-general, and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
