PESHAWAR:

The provincial government’s initiative for providing healthcare facilities to senior citizens at their doorsteps has hit a snag.

Sources in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Department told The Express Tribune that the programme for provision of healthcare to elderly people at their doorstep has been thrown into cold storage.

The incumbent government had announced medical programme for elderly citizens of the province and it was decided that senior citizens suffering from mental and other diseases would be provided treatment at their homes.

The government had also collected data for launching the programme. According to the data, the number of senior citizens has increased in the province.

Under the healthcare initiative, the government had also decided to train paramedical staff for providing first and secondary level treatment to such patients at their homes.
