KARACHI:

Security officials reportedly caught two men red-handed while they were fleeing after stealing two oxygen cylinders at the Dow University of Health Sciences’ Ojha campus on Thursday night.

The suspects, Khawar Naeem Khan and Meezanuddin, allegedly stole the cylinders from the tent of the contractor supplying the equipment and were fleeing in a rickshaw when the hospital’s security accosted them and found the cylinders in their possession.

They are said to have been employed by the supplier and had been terminated after their contracts ended.

The suspects were handed over to police. A case against them has been registered at Sachal Police Station.

Following the incident, security at the health facility has been beefed up on the contractor’s complaint.

Very heart breaking to see the level of morality come to this low. What these suppliers were doing was taking the lifeline items away from the ill? I mean if you can't help the destitute, the ill, at least don't hurt them that way. This society needs lessons of conduct, spirit of helping out the needy, the ill; be it in form of social programs, the media, which currently is focused on making money on soaps, talk shows and what not.
