The Sindh High Court sought replies on Thursday from the Sindh home department on a plea seeking restraint of police from picking up containers from warehouses.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed and Justice Agha Faisal was hearing the case.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that containers were used to block traffic for political rallies, processions and other road closures. The police picks up these containers from warehouses and the task of retrieving them was left to the containers’ owners, maintained the counsel, calling it theft by the police.
The petitioner prayed the court to restrict the police from picking up containers from warehouses.
Additional Advocate General Shehryar Mehar told the court that containers were seized during Muharram but this is not usually the case.
The court sought a detailed reply from the provincial home department on the petitioner’s claims against the police and adjourned the hearing till October 27.
